Black Panther Concept Design

Marvel’s Black Panther

I was more than pleased to join the fine team at Perception during the concept and design phase of their work for Marvel’s Black Panther. During my tenure there we focused on Black Panther’s costume - its construction, the technology behind it, the manner and effects to visually animate on and overtake T’Challa’s body. We also concepted and designed the Kimoyo bead bracelet and its use as a form of holographic technology.

In June of 2016, the team at Perception consulted with Marvel Studios to explore the different ways technology could be envisioned and impact the mythological world of Wakanda. A weeks worth of consultation expanded into 18 months of conceptualizing technological paradigms, interface design, animation, vfx, and an elaborate title sequence.
